Precision Measurements from the Nomad Experiment
نویسنده
چکیده
The NOMAD experiment collected unprecedent neutrino data samples, matching both the large statistics of massive calorimeters and the reconstruction quality of bubble chambers. This paper describes the determination of the weak mixing angle which is ongoing in NOMAD, with a target precision of ∼ 1%. In addition, measurements of the νµ quasi-elastic cross-section and of neutrino Charged Current differential cross-section on carbon are presented.

Cross-section measurements in the NOMAD experiment
The NOMAD experiment was designed to search for ντ appearance from neutrino oscillations in the CERN wide-band neutrino beam produced by the 450 GeV proton synchrotron. The single-particle reconstruction and lepton identification capability of the NOMAD detector allowed the search for ντ appearance in most of the leptonic and hadronic τ decay channels [1] and also to look for νμ → νe oscillatio...

The NOMAD experiment has been designed to search for ντ appearance in the CERN wide-band neutrino beam . The detector is now completed and has been further improved. All subdetectors are working well. The experiment, where the search for oscillation is based on kinematical criteria, will reach the sensitivity ∆m > 0.7 eV for maximal mixing and ∆m > 50 eV for mixing angles sin 2θ > 3.8 × 10 afte...
متن کاملMeasurement of the Polarization in Charged Current Interactions in the Nomad Experiment Nomad Collaboration
2 We present a measurement of the polarization of hyperons produced in charged current interactions. The full data sample from the NOMAD experiment has been analyzed using the same V 0 identiication procedure and analysis method reported in a previous paper 1] for the case of hyperons. The polarization has been measured for the rst time in a neutrino experiment. The polarization vector is found...

NOMAD is a neutrino oscillation experiment designed to search for appearance in the CERN-SPS wide band predominantly beam. Signal detection is based on the identiication of charged current interactions with the help of kinematic criteria. After the completion of the detector in August, 1995 the experiment has been successfully taking data till the end of 1995 and during 1996. The detector perfo...

NOMAD is a short baseline neutrino oscillation experiment searching for ! and ! e oscillations in the CERN SPS wide band neutrino beam. The experiment has been collecting data since July 1995 and the data taking will continue until at least the end of 1997. A preliminary analysis based on the 1995 data sample allows NOMAD to set 90% con dence limits of sin 2 < 3:4 10 3 for ! and sin 2 2 e < 2 1...
